Why Gel Battery

Gel Technology: An Advanced Route for VRLA Batteries

Gel technology is one of the two main technological routes for VRLA (Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid) batteries. It involves mixing sulfuric acid electrolytes with fumed silica through a specialized process, resulting in a gelled electrolyte that solidifies within the battery by the end of production. This ensures the electrolyte exists entirely in a gel state, eliminating free sulfuric acid, preventing leaks, and making the battery maintenance-free. Unlike AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries, gel batteries benefit from a liquid-rich feature.

In the gel state, the electrolyte does not stratify, resulting in a more stable discharge performance and longer cycle life than AGM batteries. Furthermore, gel batteries do not experience capacity degradation even under partial state-of-charge conditions.

LONG WAY BATTERY GEL SERIES adopts a high-tin, low-calcium alloy with a reinforced grid design. Using German high-purity fumed silica and proprietary formulations, the gel remains stable throughout the battery's lifespan. The separator material uses leading brand PVC-SiO2 specialized for gel batteries. The co-polymer system of PVC and silica ensures that the silica in the separator integrates seamlessly with the gel, enhancing the battery's cycle life.
